Sorrow

I feel like I am suffocating in sorrow

led by pain

crying in my dark spaces

feeling alone

I want to breathe freely

raise my head

let out a roar

wanting

to spew out the sorrow

feel the release

even for just a moment

Grace's path

I stepped off my path for the last two months to join my mom on hers. My mother Grace Marie Landry
aged 88 years, 2 months and 14days died on November 2, 2009. She left behind 4 daughters, a husband,
4 son in laws, 2 grandsons, 1 brother, 6 nephews, 5 nieces, numerous cousins and friends . I am missing her
everyday , wanting to be able to feel my arms around her once more but I am learning how to get thru. Just
one moment at a time. I imagine that it will all get better in time that I will feel this pain lessen a little bit more
each day. I imagine that I will be able to get thru an entire day without crying once. I imagine that I will be stronger some day . I imagine that I will be able to use all of this grief and sorrow to create but right now
I am not moved to create, I am sitting and breathing and learning how to live without Mom.

My wild heart

My heart beats
wildly at times
till it feels like it
wants to jump
out of my chest
My heart beats
so softly sometimes
I strain to hear it
My heart beats
as it breaks
even when it aches
over troubles felt
but not seen
feel the wildness
of my heart

Thinking International Peace Day sending Love

I just came back from the Hollywood Bowl, enjoyed a very high energy fun eclectic concert "India Calling" with 6 different performers from India. Anoushka Shankar conducted the Ravi Shankar Centre Ensemble and also performed herself. There was a group from Rajasthan called Rhythmn of Rajasthan, Yogens Bollywood Step Dance Troupe, It was amazing and wonderful and Kailash Kher told us that today was International Peace Day.In the spirit of peace he wished everyone Rosh hashanah. The evening closed with Malkit Singh dancing everyone out. Tonight before bed I am thinking world peace and love. May the world be blessed today with thoughts of love and peace for all

"Awaken"

This is a close up detail
of "Awaken"

"Awaken"
This artwork was created by using rusty metal to print on silk, the rusted silk was then torn into strips and woven off loom, freeform machine stitching was added , hand painted face, stitched loops and an old recycled piece of wood from an old fence. I feel in some ways like I have been asleep for a long time and am just waking up, I believe this feeling is being shared by many others. We are all just waking up to co create a wonderful new vision of what our world can really be. But waking up can be scary and many are feeling the fear. Breathe consciously and surrender to the moment.

"Across"

This artwork is titled "Across" the Universe. I created it using rusty metal printed on silk, then I took one of the rusted metal "planet" shapes and scanned it into my computer , had some digital play fun with it and printed it in grayscale and then transfer printed it onto the silk. I sewed on a piece of old wood from a torn down fence to complete and to allow for hanging of the piece. I've been thinking a lot about our connection to each other to our earth and the earth to the universe. I believe it is foolish of us to think that we are the only inhabited planet in this universe.

Collective Oneness

9-9-09 seems an appropriate day to post this artwork
called Collective Oneness and celebrating between the one and the nine. One is the "I" the single mind, the nine is the community, the collective consciousness. Somewhere in between the two is where we all live.
This piece was created using rusty metal to print on cotton fabric which was then dyed and transfer printed with digital photo images.

emergence

I wandered today
from here to there
in space
and thru time
meeting old friends
visiting quiet places
in solitude
and back to company
I wondered today
where do I go from here
what do I do
breathe
let go
let it all flow

Soul Journey

This piece is called Soul Journey, about my path thru this life.
To create it I used rusty metal to print on cotton for the background, additional sheer cotton was rust printed and stitched on top of the background. The symbol was screenprinted and
represents the soul's journey up thru life. The finished piece was
then mounted on a wood board. This piece is 14 inches by 21.5 inches

blog begins here

Tentatively
I step forward
putting one toe into this water
testing the temperature
noticing my feelings
the slight tension in my stomach
the hunching down of my shoulders
fingers stumbling over the keys
deleting,restarting, wondering
where do I go from here
what will this blog be
I know I will just have to wait and see
as will you
